Kennel Kjavu

I have been involved in Afghans ever since I was born. But the first breed I ever handled was a Whippet when I was a junior handler. Growing up in the Hound ring was a great experience for me as I got to handle many different breeds including Bassets, Beagles, Borzois, Basenjis, Salukis and many more. But my passion was the Afghan Hound.

When I was 12 years old I got my first Afghan Bitch which was out of the very first litter I co-bred with my parents Colin & Helen under our Prefix "KJAVU".

That litter produced 8 Champions including "Itty" Grand Ch Kjavu A Bit Of It. "Itty" would go on to win 3 Specialty Best in shows and 12 All Breed Best In Shows and her biggest win of all was Group 1 and Best In Show 4th at the Royal Melbourne Show in 2006. She was also Australia’s #1 Afghan Hound in 2008 and #1 Bitch of All Breeds also.

In that same year I also handled the Borzoi "Dylan" Grand Ch Mistraka Quinn The Eskimo to being the #1 Borzoi in Australia.

Another big winner from my first litter was "Itty's" litter brother Amer & Aust BIS & SBIS Ch Kjavu Madison Avenue who became the only Australian bred Afghan to get to #1 Afghan All Systems in the USA.

At 15 I decided I wanted to enter the judge’s aspirant’s scheme and 2 years ago I gained my Hound license which made me the youngest Hound judge in Australia right now.

Since I have got my hound group I have judged in Australia twice (Melbourne & Sydney) and in the USA 3 times now. In Ohio for Grand River Kennel Club All Breeds Show (2009), In New York for the Central New Jersey Hound Show which was held the same weekend as Westminster KC (2010) and just recently in California for the Western Hound Ass.Of California (2010).
